53 – Chew

I’ve got another tasty comic book adaptation for you all. Sink your teeth into this:

Here’s what I’ve got for you this week:

Chew is a series that began publishing in 2009. The series concluded with issue 60 last year. The entire series has been released as 12 collections, all of which are available to purchase.

The comic was published by Image Comics, a publisher behind The Walking Dead and Spawn. A few of their other properties have also had on-screen adaptations:

Witchblade, a comic series that ran for 20 years between 1995 and 2015, had a tv series in the early 2000s which ran for two seasons.

A film adaptation of Invincible, the comic written by The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman, is currently in development, written and produced by Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg. Rogen and Goldberg are also behind the TV show Preacher, another comic series.

A while ago a group of filmmakers released their own live-action teaser for how they imagine a Chew series would look like:

Faith is a comic book series at Valiant Comics – who are also starting their own cinematic universe at Sony. This is good for several reasons: 1) It means we may get another female-fronted Comic Book Movie, and 2) Sony could be too busy with this franchise to focus on their other comic book property and give it back to their owners. Maybe. Who knows. It would be quite the Homecoming.

That’s it for this week. Next week we’ve got another guest!
