It’s been a while since we last recorded, so before our grand return to the Elevator, Tam brings his pitch from the live show earlier this year: a sequel to his Mexploitation remake starring Legendary Luchador El Santo.
Deeby follows the modern Disney method with his live-action adaptation of the 1963 Disney Classic(?), ‘The Sword In The Stone’.
Deeby’s away for his birthday, so Wumi and I took advantage of this to talk Nothin’ But Comics! You’ll probably hear the moment when I realise I don’t know as much about current comic arcs as I thought:
Yo! Happy Valentines Day and all that! “Romeo and Juliet … IN SPACE!” was a challenge presented to yours truly by Tam almost as soon as he had the idea for this podcast. Deeby did what any right minded lad woulda’ done:
1) Put it off till Valentine’s Day was a stone’s throw away, and then
2) Made sure that his pitch veered as far away from anything like a Romeo and Juliet story at all.
We’re up all night for a BRAND NEW EPISODE! Here’s what I’ve got for you this week:
A whole new world, A new fantastic episode of The Broken Elevator! This isn’t the first time we’ve tackled Disney, but it is for me. With Moana out this week, I tell Deeby three fairy tales that could potentially become films, and he helps me take the best idea from Zero to Hero. I’m out…
Tam looks back at Doctor Strange’s 1963 comic book debut in this week’s episode, and tries to turn an unrelated story in the same issue into Marvel’s next big franchise. But– he hasn’t read the comic.
With Wumi’s help, a two line synopsis for ‘We Search The Stars!’ and a bunch of nameless characters, can Tam make a good story?
